The Waterproof Proprio Foot®
Because the world isn't flat
In 2006, we debuted the original Proprio Foot. Featuring motorised ankle flexion, the goal was simple: to reduce trips and falls. It was a hit, winning the prestigious Red Dot design award and spawning an entire new product category. However, since our ultimate goal is to replicate the function of the human foot, there is always room for improvement.
In redesigning Proprio Foot, we first enhanced the safety and stability features that made the original so great for low-to-moderately active users in the first place. Next, we incorporated a Pro-Flex LP foot module to provide 44% more toe-off power and we added usability improvements like single-button functionality and an integrated battery. And recently we took another giant step closer to our goal withmaking the foot fully waterproof in salt and fresh water*.
Proprio Foot redefines what is expected from an MPA, truly delivering the freedom to move naturally with safety and stability.*Not recommended for pool usage. See Instructions for Use for more info.

Safety first. Proprio Foot adapts to varied terrain, helping users walk naturally and comfortably on a variety of everyday terrain, including stairs and ramps. It also features 4° of active swing phase dorsiflexion, contributing to a 70% reduction in falls.
The power of Pro-Flex. The new Proprio Foot is built on a Pro-Flex LP foundation. As a result, it delivers a 44% increase in toe-off power and a 23% increase in ROM (of the underlying carbon fiber foot) over the previous model. It also provides reduced sound side loading.³
It’s so easy! Automatic setup makes customising Proprio Foot for each user’s unique gait simple. Plus, the new Proprio Foot features a sleek new design with an integrated battery that provides 20-42 hours of use. A single button makes it easy to see the battery charge level and align the ankle for different footwear with up to 2” (5 cm) of heel height.
No umbrella? No problem! To fully enjoy activities, the Proprio Foot is rated IP67**, which means it tolerates fresh, soap and salt water, to enjoy a family beach afternoon at the ocean, take a shower or swim in a lake without even thinking about it.
20-42 hours depending on usage* Not recommended for pool usage. See Instructions for Use for more info

Product description
Proprio Foot is an adaptive microprocessor-controlled ankle for low to moderately active people with an amputation, designed to improve safety by increasing toe clearance in swing phase and adapting to changing terrain. Proprio Foot is fully waterproof in salt and fresh water (excluding chlorinated water). Proprio Foot redefines what is expected from a microprocessor-controlled ankle, truly delivering the freedom to move naturally with safety and stability. Let your patients experience a new level of mobility.
Össur recommends using Proprio Foot in conjunction with the sleeveless elevated vacuum suspension system Unity®, which adds minimal weight and no build height, and does not interfere with Proprio Foot dynamics. Unity is designed to provide secure suspension in combination with Iceross Seal-In® technology, while stabilizing volume fluctuations and maintaining comfortable socket fit throughout the day.
Key features
Active Toe Lift - Avoid trips and falls with increased toe clearance. Active Dorsiflexion means that with every step the powered ankle raises the toe to increase toe clearance and repositions it for heel contact, in perfect sync with the users gait profile.
Terrain Adaptation - Walk with stability and comfort. Terrain Adaptation provides real time adaptive ankle function with sensors that continually monitor the surface angle and acceleration to optimally pre-position the foot for inclines, declines, and stair ascent and descent.
Waterproof & Built for Life - Proprio Foot features enhanced battery life, durability, and is complete submersible in both fresh and saltwater, protected by IP67 ingress rating.
Auto-Alignment – Allows users to maintain alignment across a variety of footwear with the touch of a button.
Relax Mode & Chair Exit – Replicates natural ankle motion to facilitate standing up and provide a more relaxed and comfortable sitting position.

Characteristics
Anatomical foot
The full effective foot length, in combination with the big toe and sandal toe matches the length and shape of the sound foot. The lightweight anatomical foot cover features a steadygrip sole for barefoot stability on wet or slick surfaces, and a sandal-clamping toe for a range of footwear including flip flops.
Full length toe lever
The full-length keel/toe lever matches the length of the sound foot, giving a smoother, symmetrical gait.
Heel height adjustability
Heel height can be adjusted to various types of shoes.
Proportional response
The layering of carbon fiber optimizes the deflection of the forefoot from mid-stance to toe-off and is proportional to the user’s weight and impact level.
Sandal toe
Narrow, anatomically correct foot cover for use with a sandal toe shoe.
Split toe
A split toe feature allows the foot to adjust to the surface below, allowing amputees to walk naturally on uneven ground.
Waterproof
Whether it's fresh water, salt water or chlorinated water, Waterproof Össur products will give you the maximum protection you need. The use of first-rate materials provides permanent protection against harmful ingress of water, even after submersion, whilst continuing to provide the functionality you expect.
Note: Exposure to chlorinated water is not recommended for Proprio Foot as it may compromise the actuator grease/lubrication, affecting functionality of the foot. Structural integrity is not affected. Devices experiencing issues related to chlorine exposure can be serviced under warranty.
