1. Important information and who we are
Purpose of this privacy policy
This privacy policy aims to give you information on how Össur collects and processes your personal data through your use of our services and products, including any data you may provide when you purchase a product from us, use our services, programs and applications.
It is important that you read this privacy policy together with any other privacy policy we may provide on specific occasions when we are collecting or processing personal data about you so that you are fully aware of how and why we are using your data. This privacy policy supplements other notices and privacy policies and is not intended to override them.

Össur is made up of different legal entities. This privacy policy is issued on behalf of the Össur Group so when we mention “Össur”,"we", "us" or "our" in this privacy policy, we are referring to the relevant company in the Össur Group responsible for processing your data.

You have the right to make a complaint at any time to your country´s supervisory authority for data protection issues. Being that Össur´s headquarters are in Iceland the group’s main supervisory authority for data protections issues is the Icelandic Data Protection Authority Persónuvernd. We would, however, appreciate the chance to deal with your concerns before you approach the supervisory authority so please contact us in the first instance.

2. The data we collect about you
Personal data, or personal information, means any information about an individual from which that person can be identified. It does not include data where the identity has been removed (anonymous data).

Being that Össur´s services and products are directly related to the health of many of our customers we might collect Special Categories of Personal Data about you (this includes information about your health and biometric data) if you provide us with such data when purchasing our products, using our services and/or applications and/or if such data is provided by a medical practitioner or other organization with whom you authorize to enter personal data on your behalf into our sites, systems or applications.
If you fail to provide personal data
Where we need to collect personal data by law, or under the terms of a contract we have with you, and you fail to provide that data when requested, we may not be able to perform the contract we have or are trying to enter into with you (for example, to provide you with goods or services). In this case, we may have to cancel a contract for a product or service you have with us, but we will notify you if this is the case.
