AeroFit® Socket

Overview

Where it started...

Understanding the Challenge

60% of people with limb differences struggle with humidity management. This excess humidity can lead to discomfort, skin irritation, and even blisters, severely impacting the quality of life for prosthetic users.

Recognizing this challenge, we set out to develop a solution that not only addresses these issues but also enhances overall comfort and skin health.

Introducing

the AeroFit System

Our Vision and Mission

At Össur, we are committed to creating innovative solutions that improve the lives of prosthetic users. The AeroFit system embodies this commitment by offering a comprehensive solution to the challenge of humidity buildup inside prosthetic liners.

Our mission is to provide a breathable prosthetic interface that combines advanced technology with user-centric design to significantly reduce humidity accumulation and improve  the perceived skin health.

What Makes AeroFit a System?

The AeroFit system is more than just a liner or a socket, it's a revolution in prosthetic comfort and skin health for prosthetic users, combining a vented socket and 3D printed silicone liner:

Vented Socket TF: A socket with strategically placed vents that work seamlessly with the liner to expel air from the socket, promoting airflow and reducing humidity buildup.

AeroFit Seal-In Liner: A breathable 3D-printed silicone liner that wicks humidity away from the skin, leaving it feeling drier and healthier.

Details

Product description

Together with the Aerofit Liner, the Aerofit socket converts a TF socket into a breathable system by installing vents to expel humidity from the socket, promoting airflow and reducing humidity build up. The vents are installed using the AeroFit Tool Kit.

When using AeroFit with Direct Socket TF, the breathable AeroFit socket can be fabricated during a single visit. Users can enjoy the benefits of the AeroFit system immediately rather than needing multiple clinic visits. The fabrication process is standardized, using the Direct Socket materials, the Tool Kit, and the Brim.
